A century-old method

Joseph Pilates, born in Germany, developed his method during the First World War and opened his first studio in 1926. He called it “Contrology”: using the mind to better control the muscles.

Core principles (concentration, breathing, centring, control and precision of movement…) and 35 movements in a precise order, focusing on the lower torso: abdominals and glutes.

Who is it for?

Intense exercises, but with no sudden movements or impact.

  • People who don't exercise, as well as those who exercise a lot
  • Anyone stressed, tired or stiff
  • Pregnant women or new mothers
  • Older people, or anyone recovering from an injury
  • Anyone who wants to stay in shape without getting hurt

  • A leaner figure, weak muscles firmed up
  • More flexibility and range of motion
  • Slower, deeper breathing
  • Better everyday posture
  • Better coordination, which slows the effects of ageing
